Bates 13th in New England; Dilts All-Region

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - After spending almost all of the season flying under the radar, Bates Men's Cross Country pulled out a 13th place in what is arguably the deepest New England region cross country has ever seen. Sophomore transfer Devin Dilts brought his first ever season of cross country to a stellar end, leading Bates with a 25th place finish (26:57), capturing All-Region honors. ECAC Squad Races at Colt State Park

BRISTOL, RI - The Bates cross country team competed at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship this weekend at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island. Led by a 53th place finish from freshman Peter Corcoran, the men placed 18th overall. Corcoran, who has been a solid member of Bates' top seven all year, did not race at State of Maine or at NESCAC due to an injury. His race was clearly a solid indicator that he is recovered and ready to run next week at NCAA Regionals at Williams College. Corcoran ran a time of 28:02 on a crowded and confusing course. read more...

Danahy, a four-time All American at Bates in Cross Country and Track, placed 18th overall in an extremely competitive race, featuring more than 3,000 competing runners. Danahy's time of 1:16:51 equals an average pace of 5:52 per mile, an impressive feat for the 29 year old Danahy, who also teaches chemistry at Bates. Danahy's effort is the latest in the recent rash of Bates Distance alumns racing well, following the efforts of Matt Dunlap in the full Maine Marathon, and Matt Biggart and Patrick Wales-Dinan in the Half-Marathon just weeks ago. New Website is Live

LEWISTON, ME - As of 10:30 PM tonight, the new website is live. Feel free to bookmark it and check back frequently. Unfortunately, not everything is up and running yet. So far four sections of the website have been completed. The home page (where you are at now if you're reading this), the roster section, history, and the Why Bates? section. The roster page is not fully updated yet (just two of the coaches and me), as I am waiting on info from athletes. By the end of the week it should be completed, and the other pages should be up. Please e-mail me if something between those three pages is not working. Thanks, and enjoy. If you want to see the old website, you can access it by clicking here.

Welcome back
9-19-2008
Bates XC 2.0

LEWISTON, ME - Welcome back, visitors. As you may have noticed, the Bates Cross Country team is experiencing an overhaul. While the new website is a great asset, it accounts only for a small portion of the new wave of change here at Bates. This year we have nine total newcomers to the cross country team, including one transfer and seven freshmen. Their tremendous impact can be seen in the results. Devin Dilts '11, transfer from Vanderbilt University, has already shown us his ability, finishing 3rd at the Alumni Race, posting the fastest time of the day at the Colby duel meet, and finishing 4th at Tufts, leading the Bobcats at every race. The freshman are no exception. Four of them have already moved themselves into the top seven. In addition to our new ranks is the newly renovated Walter Slovenski Field House. The indoor track has been completely resurfaced with "Super Mondo X," the latest and greatest in track surfaces. No more stress fractures! Finally, to complete the revolution, we'll be getting new uniforms shortly. Welcome to Bates XC 2.0.

This website is the unofficial team run page for the Bates College Cross Country team. It is maintained by Joe Musso '11, if you have concerns/complaints/compliments, please e-mail them to jmusso@bates.edu.
