Danny Plourde est né d’un motard et d’une chanteuse le 6 juin 1981 à Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Peu après les lacrymaux du sommet des Amériques en avril 2001, il termine un DEC en Art et Lettres avec une formation en théâtre, puis commence des études littéraires à l’UQÀM (Baccalauréat et Maîtrise). Depuis, il est membre du groupe rock garage francophone Les Fidel Castrol et codirige le collectif de crémation littéraire «ectropion». Il a publié textes et poèmes dans des revues québécoises et coréennes. Il publie Vers quelque en 2004 (prix Félix-Leclerc), Calme aurore: s’unir ailleurs, du napalm plein l’œil en 2007 (prix Émile-Nelligan) et Cellule esperanza en 2009, toujours à l’Hexagone.  En ce moment, Plourde enseigne la littérature au Collège Maisonneuve, et il est l’un des directeurs littéraires à la maison de publication l’Hexagone, chez qui il dirige une collection littéraire qui sortira prochainement.

Plourde est un performeur, musicien et voyageur dans l’âme,on a pu l'entendre notamment au Canada, au Québec, en France, en Espagne, en Pologne et en Corée du Sud, il espère un jour devenir l’ambassadeur d’un Québec souverain dans une Corée réunifiée…La place du poème sur la place publique, la prise de parole et l'engagement littéraire sont des enjeux importants de son approche créatrice. Joseph Morneau : La pinte est en spécial, roman traitant du milieux des bars à Montréal, est son dernier livre publié. 

Danny Plourde was born to a biker and a singer, June 6th, 1981, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. Shortly after the tear-inducing Summit of the Americas in April 2001, he completed a diploma in Art and Letters with a concentration in Theatre; he then began to study literature at UQAM (BA and MA). Since then, he has been a member of the francophone garage rock band Les Fidel Castrol and has co-directed the literary collective Ectropion. His writing has been published in journals in Quebec and in Korea. He published Vers quelque (which won the Félix Leclerc prize) in 2004, Calme aurore: s’unir ailleurs, du napalm plein l’œil (which won the Émile Nelligan prize) in 2007, and Cellule esperanza in 2009, all with Hexagone.   Plourde is presently teaching literature at the Collège Maisonneuve, and is one of the literary directors at L’Hexagone publishing press, for whom he is directing an upcoming literary collection. 

Plourde is a performer, musician, and spiritual traveller (he has been heard mainly in Canada, Quebec, France, Spain, Poland and South Korea), who hopes one day to become an independent Quebec’s ambassador to a reunified Korea…The role of the poem in the public square, public speaking and literary engagement are important issues of his creative approach. Joseph Morneau: La pinte est en spécial, a novel dealing with the media bars in Montreal, is his latest book published.
