On a sweltering day at Franklin Park, the Bates men managed to finish second out of 25 teams in this weekend's Codfish Invitational, falling only to Division-II Bentley. While many were hampered by the heat, Noah, Devin, and Wortham managed to fight through it and finish second, seventh, and eleventh, respectively. Noah was in fact the first collegiate competitor to cross the line. Tully was once again the team's fourth finisher in 33rd, still trying to get back into form after some time off. Grizz was not for off, in 37th, with Jag and Mike Martin just behind him. Elmo had a pretty darn good race, converting from last week much better than most of the team in 28:18, as did Jamie, who ran 28:45. Joe also ran fairly well, running 29:32. Graham put forth an admirable effort, but couldn't overcome the blister he sustained on his thumb playing Mario Tennis the previous night.
The team will take next off to indulge in various pleasures, including eight eights at eight and the storied run to coach's house, and will return to Franklin Park the following weekend for Open New Englands.
