BOSTON, MA - Travelling to Franklin Park for the second time this fall, the cross country team placed 32nd at the Open New England Championships on Saturday. While not the finish the team had been hoping for, there were certainly many performances that bode well for meets to come. Junior Devin Dilts managed to lead the team once again, finishing 73rd in a time of 25:54, despite muddy conditions. First year Ryan Rice also turned in a solid performance, running second for the team in 26:52. Also promising was first year Andrew Wortham's finish of 27:05, placing him fourth on the team in his first collegiate 8k.
The Sub-Varsity race also contained some strong performances. Eric Kimball and Graham Pearsall were the team's top two finishers in 27:16 and 27:23, respectively, both close to their marks from two weeks prior, despite the aformentioned mud. Myles Black-Ingersoll ran a considerable PR of 29:04, and Chris Hernandez also clocked a lifetime best of 29:36.
Next weekend the cross country team will compete in the State of Maine Championships, hosted by Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
