Kant outline
- Kant argues that if there is to be experience at all, there must be conceptual norms and connections that link separate temporal and spatial moments together as more than a series of befores and afters.
- This is true of places as well. But places are both fields of linked contrasts and themselves meaningful items in linked contrasts. Places are not closed horizons.
- Kant's notion of reflective judgment is very similar to the notion of creating social grammars.
- Kant's notion was extended by Hegel and others into a theory about our selves as belonging within the process of meaning and place making.
