BATES WOMEN EASE PAST BABSON, 77-62

LEWISTON, Maine — A balanced attack paced the Bates College women's basketball team to its fourth straight win in front of a crowded house at Alumni Gymnasium, 77-62, over the visiting Babson College Beavers.

Bates (9-2) saw five different players score in double figures, paced by junior forward Carla Flaherty (Gorham, Maine), who had 15 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Classmate Lisa Golobski (Methuen, Mass.) had a season-high 14 points, while senior Kate Dockery (New York, N.Y.) added 13. Rookies Heather Taylor (Nobleboro, Maine) and Olivia Zurek (Arlington, Mass.) each had 10 points off the bench.

Babson (9-5) had a brief one-point lead early in the game at 7-6, but the Bobcats went on a 14-2 run over the next six minutes to take a 20-9 lead they would never relinquish. The Beavers got as close as seven points in the second half, but Bates answered each run.

Bates forced 20 Babson turnovers and held the Beavers to 34.9 percent shooting from the floor. Babson junior Ingrid Miller (East Lyme, Conn.) led all players with 18 points, while first-year forward Erin Conroy had 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
