Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu Lyman Munson recently shared his first update in 20 years. He is branch underwriting director for Kemper Insurance in San Francisco. He received his M.B.A. from St. Mary's College of California and J.D. from Golden Gate Univ. He's a member of the California bar and does pro bono family law through the Bar Assn. of San Francisco. He's also a member of board of directors of several San Francisco nonprofits, including Central City Hospitality House, Oakes Children's Center, and The Orinda Assn. He lives in Orinda and is married to Patricia from San Francisco since 1984. "No kids, one German shephard mix dog, and I jog three to five miles per day."

She remains in close contact with '80, Mary Raftery, Laurie Croot Newton, Alyson Patch '80, M.C. McNeill '81, and Susan Doliner '81.... Sharon Bomer Lauritsen is busy keeping up with three active children while balancing a new job working on agricultural trade negotiations at the White House's Office of the U.S. Trade Tepresentative.... Margie Carpenter Welder recently left a traveling sales position to take a consulting job working out her home. Quitting at 3 p.m. every day allows her to volunteer in her daughter's kindergarten class.... Jon Casey is busy keeping up with Chuck Laurie, Dan Scully '80, Russ Swapp '80, David Bourque, Jeff Starrett, and Peter Shaheen. He is part of a group of 16 alumni have gathered every Christmas since their freshman year. Way to go - we should all have such lasting friendships.... Bill Cody is president of a business management consulting company and sales manager for five marketing-related companies in Seattle. He is starting a venture capital fund to develop and acquire companies in the business-to-business marketplace.... Rob Cramer and wife Molly welcomed twin baby boys in March 1997. This now makes a family of six.... Susan Englund Gregg is coordinator of interdistrict grant programs for LEARN, a regional educational service. She write grants and works on curriculum development, as well as providing professional development workshops for area teachers.... Donna Griffith Quinn has moved from New England to Great Falls, Va. "Although we are all adjusting to life by the Beltway, we miss New England."... Ron Hemenway wishes to remind everyone that Reunion is June 2000. He hopes to see everyone there and says that reunions are lots of fun.... Robin Kufel Kinley is keeping busy being the new Den leader for 14 little Cub Scouts. She finds time to make several quilts a month.... Mark Massa passed the series-7 exam for a securities license.... Janice McLean is working for Allmerica Financial primarily as a business systems consultant on new development projects. She has started work on a master's in library science degree at Simmons College in Boston.... Michelle Miclette has been working towards her state certification in long-term care administration in addition to being an "at home" mom.... Jackie Miller works for Medaphis Physician Services. She recently moved from Lewiston to Atlanta, when she became the director of regulatory affairs. She writes that she loves walking around all winter without a parka and boots.... From Portland, Ore., Patrick Murphy writes that he is working hard at structural engineering and applying his carpentry skills to his home.... Chris O'Leary recently joined Benchmarking Partners, an information technology consulting firm in Cambridge. He keeps busy working with vendors of information technology solutions to increase market share and product effectiveness.... Steve Schmelz is busy with his four children, ages 6 to 17.... Laurie Schultz Heim still lives and works on Capitol Hill. She is a foreign policy and defense advisor to Sen. Jim Jeffords from Vermont. She reports that Capitol Hill has become more kid-friendly in recent years and that there are more Bates stickers around all the time.... After five years in Paris and 17 years building an environmental services company, Sam Sirkin has moved to Portland, Ore. He is the deputy director of the state of Oregon's Department of Economic and Community Development.... Bill Sweat has been living in Tokyo working with Fidelity Investments. "It's been a great experience so far. The people I've met have been very warm and accepting and the culture is fascination - though not as different as you might expect." Rob Thomas, along with three partners, created, marketed, and brought national attention to Krank20 - caffinated water. This product got him a spot on 48 Hours. After selling this, he is now a financial advisor and broker at Paine Webber working with business on corporate cash management.... Peter Weimersheimer is finishing his last year as chief resident in emergency medicine at Boston City Hospital.... Robert Willsey moved to California when The Travelers set up a new company for auto insurance in the state and they needed a chief actuary. He and his family have found the change from the East to West Coast quite interesting.
