"After meeting Richard in Camden, where I was working in the yacht charter business, he offered me a job at his yacht charter company in New Zealand. How can you pass that up? I worked there for two years, until we decided to return to the states. We now live in Silicon Valley of California and work in the hi-tech industry while enjoying racing on our 17-foot day sailer."...Colleen Quint is executive director of the recently expanded George J. Mitchell Scholarship Research Institute, which will fund scholarships for Maine high-school seniors from every school in the state. The institute's board of directors will choose recipients based on academic excellence, community service, and financial need. Scholarships will total more than $2.3 million over the next five years, with recipients receiving $1,000 a year for college. "Helping Maine's young people achieve a college education is one of my highest priorities," said Mitchell, a Maine native and former U.S. Senate majority leader.
