Bobcats Earn CBB Title
With Colby Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williams College senior co-captain Andrew Conley scored a game-high 18 points in his final regular season home contest as the Ephs defeated the visiting Bates College Bobcats, 80-65, in NESCAC action today.

Williams (16-6, 5-3 NESCAC) led, 19-15, with five minutes remaining in the first half. The Ephs then went on a 12-0 run to take a 16-point advantage before Bates closed the gap to 31-22 at the half by scoring the final seven points of the stanza.Williams' Tim Folan led all scorers at the break with nine points on three 3-pointers.

Bates (13-9, 1-6 NESCAC) improved its shooting from 29 percent (8-28) to 43 percent (15-35) in the second half, but Willams did as well, hitting 55 percent from the floor (17-31), including 54 percent from 3-point range (7-13).

Conley led five Williams players scoring in double figures, along with Folan (15 points), Dan Dickens (14 points), Joe Weiss and Drew DeMuth (11 points each).

Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) led the Bobcats with 13 points, leaving him one shy of 1,000 for his career, and eight rebounds. Billy Hart (Haverhill, Mass.) added 11 points and needs 13 more to reach the 1,000 plateau.

Elsewhere in NESCAC, Colby defeated Bowdoin, 73-52, in Waterville. With that win, Bates claims its first outright CBB title since 1966-67. The Bobcats finished 3-1 in CBB play, Bowdoin 2-2 and Colby picked up its first State Series win to finish at 1-3.
