Projects, etc. done
- Loaded original set of Films on Demand records (includes writing load table) (3/2011).
Projects, etc. in process
- Database cleanup (authority records) for obsolete indicators. (This is being done after the Authority File Replacment since any changed records (hopefully) will have current indicators.)
- Continue loading record sets.
- Writing a Project to Set Up document. Completing projects myself or assigning work to others.
- Cleanup from archival cataloging (Includes cleanup of past coding practices and going forward with current standards (099 indicator, 710 |b, and 700 |4, |e).
- New functionality needed?
- e.g., Pre-canned searches to help faculty using videos, esp. in interdisciplinary fields. (with XML server?)
- Add call number to Circ feature film list and DVD list (Jeff asked that OCLC number be removed, but that is what creates the link to the catalog.) Or just wait and create these lists via the XML server. (?)
- Millennium Scheduler.
- Patron record loads (ask for needed info from IS)
- CBB new material lists (if this still exists once/if Innovative enhances Create List functionality to search relative dates e.g, with a cat date of up to 90 days ago).
- Installing Patron API/Web Service
- For patron fine/billing information to/with Banner (10/2009)
- Follow-up from IUG 2009
- Install print templates (LC, SuDoc, CDs? DVDs? Videos?)
- Use XML server for New books list
- Look at International Webmaster Assoc for classes/also U Maine for programming classes
- Determine if we still want these for the catalog. If so, implement:
- Spell Check.
- RSS feeds-Yes, for Archives
- Implement URL checker.
- Finishing Technical Bulletin 252 cleanup. Includes:
- Converting records from n/a language code.
- Listen to Diane Hillmann's Nelinet presentation (Dec. 5, 2008) on the Future of Cataloging and Catalogers.
Projects, etc. to do
- Update webpage: Marc Fields for Cataloging Remote Electronic Resources, adding new fields for integrating resources. (Use handout from OLAC conference.)
- Update cataloged enhanced CDs to reflect new procedures (additional 007; Enhanced compact disc instead of Enhanced CD
Future Projects
- With Innovative authority control module, develop projects to:
- bring Bates College and department headings under authority control, with subdivisions (probably will wait for Millennium Cataloging)
- help with Wade-Giles to Pinyan conversion (slated nationally for Oct. 1, 2000) (Wade Giles cross references will be removed from authority records in 2 years--MCB v.32, no. 7 (July 2001), p. 8)
- fix Jewish-Arab relations
- Continue procedures/documentation for use of Innopac codes, starting with item status: how used, who uses, etc. Include all formats (e.g., periodicals and status m / Air power journal, v. 11). For finished pages, see Innopac Documentation.
- Work on Laura's question about why American Jewish Desk Reference (Ref E 184.35 .A44 1999) is not in E 184 .J5 cutter. (It's right, I think, everything else is wrong?)
- Class number problem: use of zero in three letter K classes (KBD0) (KBL0) Marnie has list from inventories. [Will information in Innopac manual, 2. Create lists, Boolean searches using call number solve KFM 0 problem?] See OLAC Newsletter v. 22, no. 3 (Sept. 2002), p. 43 for information on OCLC's clean up of 3 character law call numbers. [Ann K. 5/2009 says that LC is still completing class schedules, and the completed schedules will all have class numbers.]
- Update compositeseparate.shtml, taking "de-composite" project into account.
- Take the Cataloger's Desktop tutorial.
- Watch OCLC webcast Reconceptualizing Cataloging, from ALA.
- Take the course on Soviet Union, etc. subject headings
- Reclass scores into Music for children that are now in general numbers? Also, see if some in MT's belong here (or teaching pieces). (Word search t: youth or t: young or t: Jugend or t: children or t: Kinder ot t: enfant**, limited to printed music.)
- AACR1 cleanup for sound recordings. For a display problem example, do a title search on: Don't look back. Innopac defines and displays the year as the last four digits in 260 |c. In AACR1 cataloging, the date is in 260|d; the music number is in 260 |c. So we have the last four digits of music numbers displaying as years in browse displays that include LPs.
- Change obsolete indicators: 1st indicator 2 in X00 fields to 1 (in bibs and authority records). 260 indicator 0 to blank. 740s. (started Fall 2003. Cleanup on this scale will have to be done over an extended period of time, or transaction file will have to be enlarged. Can't change 10,000 records daily, I don't think.)
- 590 Ruth Gevault Glazer to item record notes; icode2 to g (started Fall 2003, still need to remove note from bib records).
- Update uncontrolled headings (without subfields) for Bates College Departments (theses).
- Decide how to implement marc holdings records in Millennium. Easier to have staff member manually create records than for me to try to automate the process? (Write a load table to load LDR info into Millennium Serials. Nancy Norton, III rep. at the NASIG 2002 Innovative Users Group meeting said it would be possible to load info from LDRs with a custom load table. She also said you need a load table to have it create check-in from CONSER data; thinks you can't write it, because you need the programming piece to generate the boxes; but she thinks it's not an expensive load table (from NASIG 2002 notes). Use the OCLC MARC Records manual, Chapter 4, to see what fields are included in LDRs.)
- Form/Genre? Could use Millennium to change |x to |v.
- Get rid of |f for sound recordings and scores so automated authorities will change more headings? (or is that not the problem?) |f's are needed for uniform titles for books.
- Get a permanent marker. Re-highlight first cutter of CDs.
- Make vols. of Schubert complete works (M3.S38) consistent and have students re-label.
