Flower Gallery

In the spring of 2001 I bought a Kodak DC4800 digital camera. The normal focal length of the camera is (in 35mm terms) 24-84mm; I bought two close-up lenses (+7) and (+10) and a 2x telephoto and 0.6 wide angle "extension" lenses. The close-up lenses are especially good for flowers. The flowers in these pictures are mostly from my wife's gardens, with a few from other places as noted.

Flowers. In general I try to take each flower picture using black velvet as a background; it's the most light-absorbant fabric I could find. Sometimes I use colored paper. Sometimes the lighting is direct sunlight, other times it's diffused. The camera is 3.1 Mega-pixels, and the original photos measure 2160x1440 pixels. I have reduced their sizes and JPEG resolutions for these webpages. Click on any picture to get a bigger version - but still, not 2160x1440; that's just too big. However, clicking on a "detail" picture will bring up a 600x600 region from the original 2160x1440 image, to give an idea of the cameras ability to capture tiny features.
