Caption: Bulgarian President extended his stay in Greece with one day due to a Monday storm that made him visit monastic community Mount Athos a day later.
Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov has visited the Bulgaria-hosted Monastery St. Martyr Georgi Zograf in the Orthodox spiritual center Mount Athos in Greece.
He attended Tuesday the solemn liturgy on the occasion of the Monastery's festive day and was acquainted with the activities of the monastic brotherhood for the preservation of cultural and historic heritage of the monastery.
Later in the capital of Mount Athos President Parvanov met with the leadership of the Athos Republic.
Weather conditions in the region of Mount Athos, northern Greece, caused a one-day delay in the visit of Bulgaria's head-of-state to the monastic community.
The strong winds blowing in the region Monday forced President Parvanov to stay in the small port town of Ouranoupolis in Chalkidiki because the boats to Mount Athos were not allowed to leave port.
