Following the highly successful pilgrimages to France in 2002 and to Thessaly (Greece) in 2004, the Friends of Mount Athos are now organizing a third pilgrimage – this time to the outstanding monasteries of Moldavia (Romania), several of which were once dependencies of the Holy Mountain. These houses of prayer are renowned for their exquisite external frescos and for the extraordinary beauty of the countryside in which they are located.
Our programme will include guided visits to fifteen monasteries, important cathedrals, museums, and places of natural beauty. We shall also be received by His Beatitude Patriarch Teoctist and Metropolitan Daniel of Moldavia.
Team leader will be Bishop Kallistos, President of the Friends, who has also been invited to give a talk in the Theology Faculty at the University of Iasi on Monday 24 October.
FoMA members interested in participating should contact Dimitri Conomos.
