Spectral appearance of the once beautiful Chilandar courtyard

Regarding 15 MARCH 2004. AFP News Release

On March 17, in our ongong project of surveying and posting news reportage regarding the Chilandar Fire and its aftermath, FoMA posted an article from Hello Magazine regrding a large donation by HRH Prince Charles. We have been informed that the huge amount reported in this article was based on rumor, and have therefore removed it from our postings. The good news is that Prince Charles has, in fact, made a donation, and more importantly, is continuing to work hard to raise funds. We are optimistic that he and those working with him and with the Friends of Mount Athos will be able to contribute substantially to the needs of Chilandar Monastery.

Contributions of individual members and friends of FoMA are continuing to come in, which is good news for this effort. Every gift helps. Please contribute generously to this effort, and continue to watch the this site for news of the progress of these efforts.
