Well, it depends on your interests and skills. Are you a "computer
nerd"? Do you know your way around in Linux? If so, we could use you to
administer a number of different programs, such as majordomo, sendmail,
MomSpider, Apache, etc. Are you a "people person"? We need people to
promote AVCNet's services to the community, especially the discussion
lists. Do you like to design and develop web sites? We offer web
hosting to non-profits for a small annual fee. You could go out and find
a church, fraternal organization, or other non-profit, or even a
community issue, such as the preservation of Garcelon Bog, and develop a
web site for it. Or, maybe you're good at keeping records and/or
maintaining data in a database and doing mail merges. We need someone to
keep up the membership list and take responsibility for getting the word
out when it's time for members to pay their annual dues. Do you have
some special interest? We could set up a mailing list with you as the
administrator, and you could get people involved and keep the
conversation going.

To begin with, you might want to go to our web site and join the AVCNet
Discussion list, if you haven't already. That will keep you up on what
we're doing. To get more actively involved, you can attend our monthly
meetings which are, normally, on the 4th Monday of the month. This
month, we moved it to the 18th (this coming Monday), to avoid Christmas.
You're welcome to join us. We normally meet at 110 Russell St. in
Lewiston at 7 p.m. The building is locked after 5, so just ring the bell
and I'll come let you in.

Hope to see you there.
