CALL FOR PROPOSALS – DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 13, 2000

PLEASE FORWARD – APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING

             =========  ***  =========

WHO: The Ars Portalis Project: The Art of Civic and Community Networking (
www.arsportalis.org ). A special project of the Center for Civic Networking
( www.civicnet.org ), sponsored by the Telecommunications Opportunity
Program (TOP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce ( www.ntia.doc.gov ).

WHAT: Call for Proposals. A competition for five special research projects,
conducted by local practitioners in the U.S., for concise studies to
increase understanding of how community networking projects can become
viable social enterprises. A final report of findings of these studies will
be released in July, 2001 through the Telecommunications Opportunity
Program.

WHEN: Applications for very brief, 1,500 word proposals are due on November
13, 2000. Applications will be submitted on-line.

WHERE: Think global, act local. The Ars Portalis Project can link your work
locally, to others doing similar work anywhere, using the Net to compare,
contrast and learn; to build new knowledge among a growing community of
practitioners.

WHY: Read the new white paper: “Community Networking Gets Interesting”, just
released: ( www.arsportalis.org )

Thank you very much,

Richard Civille
