The Education Zone Planning Committee of LA Excels has come back to AVCNet with a request to set up a discussion list to assist them with their communication and general work. Bob and I had already pitched this service to the head staff person of LA Excels, Beckie Conrad, so I would like to request AVCNet Board approval to set up this discussion list. They are planning a major initiative targeted at improving the lives of children in our community from birth to age 5. I would recommend that we approve this for two reasons: 1) This discussion list will meet a real community need; and 2) the members of both this education zone committee and the LA Excels overall steering committee include some key community leaders who need to be better educated about the possibilities of AVCNet (what better way to do this than to let them participate in a practical use of our services).
