Hi all, This is a reminder that today is the last day to make changes to your web pages on the AVCNet server before we start the conversion to the new server. Over the weekend, we will be moving all pages from the old machine to their "new temporary" home. In general, the conversion shouldn't cause too many problems. There are only two issues I'm aware of: 1) Any links which start with http://www.avcnet.org/avcnet/... will not work. These links are a holdover from our original site at MaineStreet, and we won't be accomodating them on the new server. They need to be fixed to just say: http://www.avcnet.org/..., or, better, just start with a single slash. 2) The page counters: we have found a way to continue to have text based page counters, and, thanks to Rob Spellman's programming expertise, the HTML code to use the new counter will get magically changed to the new format for you. He will also be bringing over the current "hit" numbers from the old site on the day we do the "cutover" from one server to the other. There is one wrinkle that affects a few of you. The old page counter program let you put the count in multiple places on a single page, but it only counted one "hit" when someone viewed the page. The new counter will count a "hit" every time it occurs, so you will probably want to make sure you only have one counter per page as soon after the "cutover" as possible. Otherwise, your "hit" counts will get inflated. We plan to give everyone plenty of warning of when the "cutover" date and time will be and when you can start making changes, again. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we improve the AVCNet Web service. --- Jim Hart, Server Administrator Androscoggin Valley Community Network "Working together we _can_ make a difference."
