AVCNet Board Meeting February 22 1999 Lewiston Public Library, Lewiston, Maine Meeting was called to order at 7:10. Attending: Art Turley, Steve Norman, Rob Spellman, Lisa Giguere, Bruce Hall, Jim Hart, David Sysko. Database of Membership÷Art inquired as to current board members list. Also, how do we list members who have not paid? Ideas for two lists, or status icons (preferred) were discussed. Hard copy is deemed necessary for some organizations to renew. Letter should be sent 2 months ahead of July 1st renewal date. The board expressed a desire to Îpurifyâ the list, especially organizations receiving services, e.g. schools using the domain name avcnet.org . Bruce called for, and will provide, a draft of the letter in two flavors, one based on Jimâs letter last fall, the other adding text about services being received, but at risk. Follow-ups for unpaids will require personal inquiry. Public Programs÷Bruce suggested a series of public events, similar to Great Falls Forum, where AVCNet would facilitate presentations by others. Possible topics were floated: Public Access through Cable TV services, local search engine capabilities, AVCNet as Îe-voiceâ of FFA, Internet general/for newbies, ISP info/sales pitch (ISP to sponsor event). Possible venues mentioned were Bookland, LPL (availability when?), Auburn Police Department; food, internet/modem access, parking are checklist items for determining place. A reservation scheme may be helpful for planning. Agenda items÷Art proposes we post agenda items ahead of meetings for discussion and to prompt for additions. +/delta÷agenda posting will facilitate discussion, good attendance, glad to be back, pleased we are considering proactive community involvement Meeting adjourned 8:10.
