The August web server statistics are now online. Items of interest this month: 1) we had hits from 41 (!) foreign countries, 2) evening useage has increased substantially, 3) useage is also broader; 1183 different pages requested vs. 934 in July 4) average requests for pages was up from 479 requests per day in July to 496 in August. To get an idea of what areas are getting used, I wrote a program to total the hits by top level page/directory. A couple of items jump out at me on this report. 1) If we subtract 5000 hits from lpl's total due to the fact that anyone using the public computers at the Lewiston Library gets the lpl internet seach page automatically when they start Netscape, it means that ne-do-ba is far and away the most active part of our web site with 10,000+ requests for their pages. Which suggests that we are are much more a web service for local organizations than a provider of local information to local users. Something to think about. 2) Kiwanis received 174 hits even though their site is totally out of date. Maybe that information would give them enough incentive to pay their dues and work on their pages.
