; please <g>, do we want to provide this as a ftp'able file, if so how do
; we set it up and where... I will set it up as fido freq'able,

or send a e-mail message to avcnet-faq@ecolink.avcnet.org

This FAQ is formatted as a digest. Most news readers can
skip from one question to the next by pressing ^G.
Changes to previous issue marked with "|" in left column. Watch
particularly for "NEW" in the Questions list for new or substantively
changed answers. "g^|" will get you to the changed sections quickly
in most newsreaders.

Subject: Questions answered in this FAQ
Introduction/Disclaimers
What Is AVCNet ?
Who Is On AVCNet ?
What Is AVCNet's Mission ?
How Do I Join ?
What Are AVCNet's ByLaws ?
------------------------------
Subject: Introduction/Disclaimers
This is the first time I have done a FAQ, so if some information is not
quite right, or wildly inaccurate, in no way is Robert Waite, AVCNet, or
anyone else even remotely associated with them responsible in any way for
anything.
------------------------------
Subject: What Is AVCnet?
AVCNet is actually 2 things...
AVCNet, The Organization: The Androscogin Valley Community Network
(AVCNet) is a group of Schools, Libraries, Electronic Bulletin Boards,
Commercial Information Service Providers, NGO's, and Privet Individuals
who have gotten together to provide a forum to bring together
Organizations and Privet individuals as a way to educate the general
public about the use of electronic forms of communication.
AVCNet, The UseNet Domain: Thanks to the folks at Bates College, we
have our own UseNet Domain (avcnet.org). We have UseNet Mail and
Newsgroups (sorry, no alt.* at this time....). if you carry UseNet via
AVCNet, you MUST carry the AVCNET.* newsgroups.
; Here we need the following: 1) Requirements for a usenet node address
; (means we need to resolve the money issue I guess..), 2) I can provide
; a sub-sub domain (it would give a address like
; user.name.site@ecolink.avcnet.org), do we want to put this in here?.
; What else do we need?
------------------------------
Subject: Who Is On AVCNet ?
; Do we want a list of Sites?, Names? If so, Just who are we?
------------------------------
Subject: What Is AVCNet's Mission ?
; I Need a copy of the Latest Mission Statement.... I have a old one
; here, but....)
------------------------------
Subject: How Do I Join AVCNet ?
; We Need Guidelines for bringing in new system's...
Joining AVCNet the Organization: All you need to do is show up at a
meeting. Individuals memberships cost 5 dollars, for that you get
expanded access at some local BBS's, and the Warm, Fuzzy Feeling that
you get when you support something you believe in... Note: You do not
need to be a member to take advantage of e-mail services...
; and anything else we can think of....
------------------------------
Subject: What are the ByLaws ?
; I also need the most recent version of the bylaws....
