Here we have a big dilemma, and one that needs bothsome compromise and some creative thinking in order to solve equitably. At Oak Hill, we developed a terms of service, modeled on the commerical service providers, but we state right up front that we are a non-profit agency, and will attempt to not become commercial in the sense that any proceeds will become personal income. At Oak Hill we charge the students a one time fee of 10$ for all access, and that "buys" a mailbox with is good for life, life being determined both by living and by 365 days of non-use. If the non-use clause of 365 days kicks in, and the student is deleted,w e will return services on request. Life means life. We also charge 25$ per year for community members. So far we have two of those accounts. We have no commerical accounts, butwe would charge 50$ (Ithink) for those per year. We have only these base rates, and everyone who signs on has 80 minutes per day once those requirments are met. We do not charge extra for any access to the system, but people who have not paid only get 10 minutes per day, but for that time they have full access to all that we provide. Maybe some creative thinking is in order. It may not be correct to charge extra for the Internet materials provided free to us by Bates, and Bates is not able to become a re-seller. As a non-profit board for the community, this is a fine arrangement for me, but I recognize that for-profit industries are a different story. I am more than willing to have the AVCNet board reveiw my membership lists and account books in order to determine that these are reasonable and acceptable rates for a non-profit agency. We should be able to work these things out... let's be cooperative, creative, and communicative. *********************** Oak Hill High School Wales, Maine <user>@oakhill.avcnet.org ***********************
