The Androscoggin Valley Community Network (AVCNet) has now formally organized and is beginning to work on an action agenda, but we need the financial support of the greater Lewiston-Auburn area to fully realize our dreams. Please join the organization today. The Board has set the following membership categories: Individual memberships: $5 Organizational memberships: $25 A special Charter Member category at $25 has also been established for the first year. Anyone (individual or organization) who joins at that level will have their name electronically etched in the cornerstone of AVCNet in perpetuity. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations who can support us at more generous levels ($35, $100, or more) are encouraged to do so. All memberships and donations are tax-deductible. (Our bylaws are written so that we are structured as a non-profit educational organization and approval as an IRS 501(c)(3) organization is in the works.) Membership checks should be made out to AVCNet and mailed via snailmail to: Jim Hart, 107 Winter St, Auburn, ME 04210. What does a membership buy for you or your organization? 1. The satisfaction that you are a vital part of an effort dedicated to bringing the power of telecommunications and information access (both local and global) to all of our citizens. 2. Individual members will be able to attend regular program meetings at no charge. Plans are forming for meetings to begin in September. Topics being discussed include: Surfing the Internet; Getting online with email; Writing your own Web Page; and more! 3. The opportunity to promote your organization on the Internet. Work has begun on an AVCNet Web Page. Links will be provided to all AVCNet Organizational members. Also, MaineStreet Communications of Gray has offered to mount web pages at no cost for nonprofit organizations who are members of AVCNet. AVCNet plans to develop a cadre of volunteer HTML experts to assist our members in Web Page development. Please take some time today to mail in your check.
