I'm Jim Hart. I work for Information and Library
Services as a Programmer/Analyst. My department, Internet Software Services, is
responsible for the underlying Web services on campus and
routinely develops custom software to facilitate electronic
links between systems (middleware) as well as creating custom
applications that involve the Internet in some way.
Some examples of the types of work we do are:
- System analysis and design
- Web server configuration
- Web application development
- Middleware development
- Web project management
- Web planning and needs analysis
- Web related policy recommendations
My responsibilities include:
- Projects:
- Analyzing and documenting new project requests.
- Recommending solutions for new project requests, i.e. buy, build or
decline.
- Managing projects and implementing solutions.
- Programs:
- Designing schemas and writing XSLT programs for the Ingeniux Content Management System that drives the bulk of our Web site.
- Administering Linux servers.
- Setting up, configuring, administering and coding for our numerous
Drupal sites.
- Supporting the FileMaker Pro infrastructure, including FileMaker
Server.
- Working with Professor Robert Allison on the Watermark Archive Project
- Providing technical support for the ILLiad interlibrary loan
system.
