The main writeup for this lab is a handout in class or elsewhere. You will study a number of characteristics of minerals, including:

• Luster
• Hardness
• Cleavage
• Fracture
• Color
• Streak

Using these techniques, you will then examine a number of common minerals and try to identify them.
