The recent work of Dan Mills (American, b. 1956) addresses and incorporates a variety of themes and imagery: cartography, humor, imperialism, satire, cartoon characters, even landscape and portraiture (of sorts). In 2012, Mills will have solo exhibitions at Zolla/Lieberman Gallery in Chicago (new paintings and works on paper), and the Chicago Cultural Center (The US Future States Atlas, 2003-07, and related material). He has had recent solo shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Tianjin, and a number US colleges. The series "US Future State Atlas" was published as a large hardcover book by Perceval Press in 2009.
