Near the mall at the corner of Kentlands, there was a street being built with live-work apartments above commercial space. On the shopping street where I had lunch, there was a hair salon, a CD store, a day spa, a wine store, a coffee shop, a tanning salon, and a store for games, and one for upscale vacuum cleaners. A lady in the cafe spoke across several tables to make a comment to the parents of a cute child, and she spoke cheerfully to me when I asked about what she was writing in her notebook.
