A themed place self-consciously presents itself as influenced by grammatical norms. And this self-presentation is itself on display. In an Irish bar th e unity of the place's Irishness is being self-consciously displayed as being self-consciously displayed. The grammar of the place demands self-conscious display of the grammar of the place. There is a norm of presenting the norms as presented norms for the customer to run up against as such.
