architectural norms

Although New Urbanist spatial principles do not demand traditional house styles#, propaganda for the developments makes heavy use of traditional imagery. Even if the styles were different, New Urbanist planning would insist on architectural controls that avoid both context-ignoring monuments and cookie-cutter sameness. The result is greater uniformity than in a traditional town that has grown up over time, but less sameness than in the most egregious subdivisions.
