Acadia National Park, August 2004

During Katie's two-week trip to Maine, we took her up to Acadia National Park, one of our favorite hiking spots, to do some mountain climbing and sightseeing.

To get our bearings, our first stop was the top of Cadillac Mountain. It's the tallest mountain in the park, but thankfully has a road to the summit.

Thunder Hole is one of the most famous attractions at Acadia. When the tide is right, waves splash 20-30 feet in the air. During our summer trip, it wasn't doing too much.

Compare the previous shot to this picture from our October trip! I made two 15 sec movies during that trip. Click here and here to see Thunder Hole in action. (Each is about 4.7 MB.)
