Thank you for agreeing to participate in this survey!
Please read the following consent form carefully.
This consent form was created for use at Bates College.
If you are willing to participate in this survey, you must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English.
It will take you approximately 15-25 minutes to finish the study.
You may only take the survey once.
The purpose of the study is to examine associations between certain aspects of personality and aggression in relationships. You will be asked to complete several questionnaires about aggression in relationships, sometimes called intimate partner violence, along with other questions about mood, behavior, and attitudes. Sometimes when students complete questionnaires about aggression, emotions, feelings, relationships, or violence, they feel some distress. There may be some discomfort or unpleasantness associated with participation, and you may terminate the survey at any point.
Your participation in this experiment is completely anonymous and voluntary. There will be no record of your name associated with the data. Data is also stored on an online text file. While the file is not designed to be easily found and read by others, there is always a risk of outside sources gaining access to the information. In any case, keep in mind that the data are collected anonymously.
Please answer the following questions with full honesty and accuracy, remembering that there is no way to link your name to the data.
You may refuse to answer any questions and you may discontinue the survey at any point without penalty.
Your browser must have javascript and cookies enabled in order to take the survey (don't worry, most do!)
If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Newman at anewman@bates.edu or Professor Kathy Low at klow@bates.edu.
After consenting, you will have further explanation of the procedure.
