Yearbook Slide Show

This slide show is a pop up window that allows a user to "flip" through or jump to pages of yearbooks.

NOTE: Similar to the generic slideshow, ICMS's previewer won't work for viewing this slide show. All images must be placed on a4811 and the page must be published and then viewed online. Also, to get the page to appear properly, it must have variables present in the URL (pos and nex). To get the window to look correct, the page must be launched in the manner described below

Screen shots: Fields: Field Explanation: Field specs:
ClassYear This field has more than one purpose. Firstly it is displayed at the top of the slide show just to the left of the headline. Secondly, and more importantly, it acts as a guide for the naming convention by which the images are stored, and what folder they are stored in. See more below 4 digit year (1492 or 1965)
Headline A short ( 3-6 word) headline for the slideshow. Appears in the header of the slideshow.
LastPage This is the last page of the yearbook. Make sure that it corresponds with the last image in the class year's folder, not necessarily with the last actual page in the paper copy yearbook. (e.g. 122)
Description This field will only be seen by people working in ICMS and is meant as a way to help page creators keep track of which page is used for what. It can be filled in with an explanitory sentence or two, or can also be left blank
Image file naming, placing, and sizing conventions
Naming convention Files must be named [Class year]-[3 numeral even page number].jpg (see details below) (e.g. 1922-014.jgp)
Placing convention Files must be stored in the folder \\a4811\bates\xml\images\yearbook\[ClassYear] (see below for details)
sizing convention Files must be equal to or smaller than 790x520 pixels. The closer to this size (without going over) the less empty space the user will see.
Launching a yearbook slideshow.

To get the slide show to appear in a pop up window with no tool bar and sized to our specific dimensions, we must used a special link. The href for this link is
javascript:window.open('[x number of slideshow].xml?pos=0&nex=1','','width=796,height=555'); history.go(0)

example: javascript:window.open('x27264.xml?pos=0&nex=1','','width=796,height=555'); history.go(0)

This should be placed in the URL when you add a hyperlink piece of text
