How to create a new Issue...  

Step 1 If a Current Issue already exists you must move it to the Archives.
    Drag the outdated Current Issue underneath Magazine Archives.
It should become a child of Magazine Archives.
Now you have to 'make room' for the newly archived Issue.
   a) Check out Magazine Archives, then create a new Element. (Tools, Add Special, Element)
   b) Choose "XPowerComponent" from the Type pull-down box, then name it "Archive".
       It must be named "Archive".
       Hit OK.
   c) Drag the outdated Current Issue into the new component in Magazine Archives.
       The Stylesheet will automatically pick this up and display it on the page.

Step 2 Create a new Current Issue.
    Right click on Bates Magazine Home and create a new component. (New, Component)
   a) Choose "Bates Magazine Issue" from the Type pull-down box.
   b) Name it by the Issue Name (eg: "Spring 2002").
       Hit OK.

Right click on your new Issue and create two new subfolders. (New, Folder)
   a) Name one folder "Features" and the other "Departments"
   b) In your new Issue, click on the blue compass-rose next to "FeatureLinkList".
       Enter the ICMS Identification number for the subfolder named "Features" into the "Start Page" field.
       Hit OK.
   c) Click on the blue compass-rose for "DepartmentLinkList" and do the same for the Departments Folder.

  
Edit your new Issue.
   a) Type a description of this Issue's contents into the "Description" field.
   b) Type the Issue-Name into the "Issue" Field. (eg: "Spring 2002")
   c) Type the path to this Issue's Issue-Name-Graphic in the "IssueImage" field.

   d) Type the path to this Issue's Cover-Graphic in the "File" field.
       (This should have <105 width and <140 height.)
       (A preview of the cover will apear below this field.)
Step 3 Create New Articles
    I. Create a new Feature
   a) Right click on the "Features" subfolder and create a new page (New, Page).
       Choose "Bates Magazine Article" from the Type pull-down box.
       Name it with whatever you wish to call this article, but it must be all caps.



   b) Drag your new Issue into the "CurrentIssue" component.

  

   c) Fill in only the following Fields as defined here.
       Headline, Byline, Subhead, File, PictureCaption, AuthorNugget, and BodyCopy.

II. Create a new Department
   a) Right click on the "Departments" subfolder and create a new page (New, Page).
       Choose "Bates Magazine Article" from the Type pull-down box.
       Name it with whatever you wish to call this article, but it must be all caps.
   b) Drag your new Issue into the "CurrentIssue" component.
   c) Fill in only the following Fields as defined here.
       Headline, Subhead, and BodyCopy.

III. Create a new Class Notes Department
   a) Right click on the "Departments" subfolder and create a new page (New, Page).
       Choose "Bates Magazine Article" from the Type pull-down box.
       Name it with whatever you wish to call this article, but it must be all caps.
   b) Drag your new Issue into the "CurrentIssue" component.
   c) Fill in only the following Fields as defined here.
       Headline, Subhead, and BodyCopy.
   d) Change the Layout to "BatesMagazineDividerStylesheet.xsl".

IV. Create a new Class Notes Year page
   a) Right click on the "Class Notes" Page and create a new page (New, Page).
       Choose "Bates Magazine Article" from the Type pull-down box.
       Name it by the Class Year (eg: 1999).
   b) Drag your new Issue into the "CurrentIssue" component.
   c) Fill in only the following Fields as defined here.
       Headline and BodyCopy.

Step 4 Edit the Masthead if need be.
    Simply check it out, then edit the BodyCopy.
