Academic Home Page

Academic Home Page has a similar layout to the Primary Section Page, but it is adapted for specific use for the Academic Department Gateways. Navigation-Links points to a folder in which departments are encouraged to pub their custom pages. Teasers point to teaser elements within that same folder.

Screen shots: Fields: Field Explanation: Field specs:
IntroCopy This functions as almost a body copy, i.e. the text that apears in the main part of the screen. If it is left empty (truely empty, which means no empty <p> tags or anything), the page will display the information that is delivered through a script (see Import_html) Although it is a CDATA field, PLEASE do not specify font properties for body text; let the XSL stylesheet do that.
File Banner header. It is usually stored in the images/banners folder 760x165. Be sure to pay attention to placement of ancestor text.
Import_html This field imports XML through the use of a script that grabs HTML from the old abacus site. By choosing the option Intro, it takes the first paragraph of the abacus catalog page. (Script written by Jim Hart at ILS)

Pretty complex. It's best to copy it from another department page. Be sure to update 3 or 4 letter dept. code within link

Department Code Three or four letter department code (such as AAS or ENG). This code is used by a script to redirect course queries to the correct place. Make sure it is the offical one, not something that just sounds good
Intruder This is the little picture and blub that appears in the lower right hand corner of the page. Default is a Student Intruder profile which randomly loads a student from a database. Can be personalized for section with random-loading or single image. Use an intruder component
Teaser 1 and 2 Teasers like that of the Primary Section Page. A teaser component goes here. Teaser 1 is on the right, Teaser 2 on the left.
RolloverText Informative copy that might appear on a linking page Not in use. Should be empty
Navigation-Page This defines what links show up on the left hand side of the page. Typically should be set to children
Navigation-Section Primary Links along top of page Navigation-Section (x17)
Navigation-Ancestor Parents of the page. Is used to move to a higher tier in the tier (such as moving to the departments and programs page). Ancestors (generation order: down)
Footer Not in use at this time
Navigation-Links For adding links to the Lefthand Page Navigation area that are not children. These extra pages would be department created ones that are stored in a special area of the folder tree. Navigational Component
Keyword META keywords for search text
Owner Person responsible for page upkeep e-mail format (kzirkel)
