Faces-at-Bates how-to guide

Faces at Bates are a series of profiles of Faculty, students, and alumni. They each use the same page type, Faces At Bates. They are distinguished by the ProfileType, which is a selectable pulldown menu. BatesNow will scan the Faces at Bates folder (x24961) to choose the appropriate ProfileType.

Step What to do Details
Prepare your image
1 Select and size the image of the subject Faces at Bates portrait images are always 135 px wide, 185 px tall. Save as JPEG.
2 Upload the portrait to iCMS If you do not have direct permission to a4811, use the FILE/UPLOAD command. This will put the image at the root level of the images directory.
If you do have permission to a4811, you can SAVE FOR WEB directly into the Images directory at a4811\\Images\ocr\faces\
 
Create the page for your Face
1 Right-click on the folder "Current Faces at Bates", which is x24961 Right click on the folder x24961.
Select New --> Page...
Enter the name of the person and class year (example: John Amols '72)
In the Type field, select FacesAtBates
2 Fill in the data elements as below:

Select from the pulldown list:

student
alumni
faculty

Pull down the appropriate label
Date Should be month, year of posting April 29, 2003
Last_Name Person's last name Amols
First_Name Person's last name John
StudentClassYear 4-digit year, if pertinent

1972
leave blank for faculty

Headline Headline for piece, usually starts with person's name
John Amols '72 discovers a different perspective
File Path to image (depends on where you put the image in step 1) amols.jpg
ocr/faces/amols.jpg
BodyCopy HTML-sensitive text includes the text of the story; read about how to make an effective BodyCopy text area.  
All other elements Don't change them  
Move the old face to the archive
1 Drag any old Faces to the appropriate folder under x1182

Students are arranged by class year (alphabetically within each year)
Faculty are arranged alphabetically
alums are arranged by class year (alphabetically within each year)

Keep in mind that shift-dragging will force the page to be a sibling of the highlighted pages.
