LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College women's track and field team took the top four spots in the 20-pound weight throw, accounting for 1/3 of their total points, as the Bobcats placed third at their Quad Cup meet today.

Senior captain Kate Osborne (Sandy Hook, Conn.) won the event with a season-best throw of 42 feet, six inches. Junior Erika Bristol (Pittsfield, Mass.) placed second, while earning five points with a third place finish in the 55-meter hurdles. Junior Jennifer Winslow (Lee, N.H.) took third in the weight, while first-year athlete Jennifer Strahle (Ridgewood, N.J.) placed fourth. Bristol and Winslow also qualified for the ECAC and Open New England championships. First-year jumper Anya Belanger (Millbridge, Maine) won the high jump for the second week in a row, bettering her best leap of the season at 5 feet 1/4 inch, qualifying her for the ECAC championships. Belanger also placed second in the triple jump. Classmate Leah McDonald (Charleston, W. Va.) took second in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 1:02.76.
