BELANGER SETS HIGH JUMP RECORDS AS WOMEN'S TRACK TAKES SEVENTH AT BOWDOIN

The Bates College women's track team, in their final tune-up before the NESCAC Championships, took seventh place at the Aloha Relays at Bowdoin. First-year athlete Anya Belanger (Millbridge, Maine) had the Bobcats' performance of the meet, establishing a new school record in the high jump with a leap of 5-2 1/4 inches, good for second place and qualifying her for the New England and ECAC Division III Chaqmpionships. The Bobcats also got a season-best performance from the 3,200-meter relay team, who won the event with a time of 10:02.6. Three other Bates performers also qualified for the New England Division IIIs and ECAC Championships: first-year Molly Metcalf (Walpole, Mass.) in the javelin, junior Kate Burakowski (Derry, N.H.) in the 1,500-meters and senior Kate Osborne (Sandy Hook, Conn.) in the heptathlon.
