THREE WINNERS FOR BOBCATS AT NORTHEASTERN

BOSTON, Mass. — Three Bates College women's track and field team members won individual events as the Bobcats placed fifth in a pentagonal meet with MIT, Colby, Bowdoin and USM held at Northeastern University.

Sophomore Abby Anthony (Jamestown, R.I.) continued her fine season with a victory in the 5,000-meters in 18:29.56. Sophomore Kelly Puglisi (Scotia, N.Y.) picked up a win at her third straight meet since capturing the ECAC indoor title in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:26.07 in the 800-meters, just 11 seconds off the provisional qualifying time for a trip to the NCAA championships. Puglisi also took seventh in the 3,000-meters. First-year student Sarah Tressel (Newton, Pa.) won the high jump for the first time outdoors with a leap of 4-11, while also taking fourth in the triple jump.
