ECAC Division III Championships
at Boston, Mass.

PUGLISI WINS 1,000-METERS AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore middle distance runner Kelly Puglisi of Scotia, N.Y., one of three Bates College athletes to take part in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships at Boston University, won the ECAC title in the 1,000-meter run with a lifetime best mark of 3:03.41. Her time was less than a second shy of the school record of 3:02.57, held by Rebecca Watt '85 and Adelia Myrick '98. Also competing for the Bobcats were first-year sprinter Catherine Crosby of Lincoln, Mass., who placed 12th in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:23.05, and junior Jen Strahle of Ridgewood, N.J., who took 11th in the 20-pound weight with a heave of 43 feet, nine inches.
