ECAC Division III Championships at Bowdoin College
at Brunswick, Maine

The Bates Women's Track Team had its best finish ever at the ECAC Division III Championships at Bowdoin, placing 4th of 22 teams. Bates had two individual Champions. Senior Jess Young (Thetford, Vt.) won the first championship race of her career taking the 3000m in a time of 11:16.27. Classmate Kate Kenoyer (Whitefield, Maine), the New England Division III champion in the 10,000-meters, added the ECAC crown with a personal best of 39:14.57.

In all Bates had 13 athletes earn All-ECAC Honors. Bates had big scoring efforts in both the 10K and hammer. Along with Kenoyer's victory in the 10K, first year Leigh Johnson (Statesville, N.C.) finished third in 40:30.96. In the hammer, Bates had three athletes qualify for the final. Erika Bristol (Pittsfield, Mass.) was third with a throw of 147'10", Jen Winslow (Lee, N.H.) placed 5th 142'2" and Cami Wood (Coventry, Conn.) was 7th with a lifetime best of 136'3".

Johie Farrar (So. Paris, Maine) placed 7th in both the 100m (13.45) and 200m(27.29). Tracy Lyford (Portsmouth, N.H.) placed 6th in the 400H with a season best of 69.84. The 4 x 800 relay comprised of Lyford, Kelley Puglisi (Scotia, N.Y.) , Rebecca Hakala (Sanford, Maine), and Elizabeth Wallace (Winthrop, Mass.), placed 2nd with a season best of 9:54.24.
