Coach John Illig's women's tennis team evened its record at 1-1 with a decisive 9-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine. Sophomore Suzanne Daly (New York, N.Y.), playing No. 1 singles, bounced back from nicely from a 6-4 loss in the first set to win the next two, 6-1, 6-1. Senior captain Laura Shearer (Concord, Mass.) and junior Janice Michaels (Princeton, N.J.) were especially strong against the Huskies. Teamed at No. 3 doubles and in the No. 6 and 5 singles spots, respectively, Shearer and Michaels each lost just one game all day. # # #
