Wellesley junior Sarah Hilgenberg (Belmont, Mass.) converted an indirect kick from senior Katie Knudsen (Wellesley, Mass.) just 4:15 into the game to put the Blue up 1-0. Bates was unable to recover in the first half. The Bobcats got some fine opportunities in the second half, but junior Kate O'Malley (Deephaven, Minn.) and senior Colleen McCrave (Walpole, Mass.) were each stopped by Wellesley goalkeeper Molly Hellerman (Glenview, Ill.). Wellesley junior Demerese Salter (Fullerton, Calif.) iced the game with 20 minutes remaining.
