The Bates College women's soccer team (5-4) won their second straight game over a regionally ranked opponent, defeatingthe sixth-ranked Gordon College Fighting Scots (9-2-1), 3-0. Bates beat No. 8 Babson, 3-2, in overtime, on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, the Bobcats scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half to open up a 2-0 lead. Both goals saw junior midfielder Jolene Thurston (Post Mills, Vt.) streak down the middle of the field and pass to junior forward Katie Dodson (Westford, Mass.), who knocked the ball home from the far post.

Bates added an insurance goal in the 80th minute when senior tri-captain Colleen McCrave (Walpole, Mass.) scored on an assist from junior All-American Kate O'Malley (Deephaven, Minn.)

Senior goalkeeper Susie Arnold (No. Falmouth, Mass.) made five saves in recording her second shutout of the season.
