BATES WOMEN'S SOCCER BLOWS OUT UNE, 8-0

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College women's soccer team (9-3) exceeded last season's win total in dominating fashion, outscoring the University of New England (9-4-1), 8-0, in the sleet on Leahey Field today. Bates has outscored its last two opponents by a combined 15-0 score.

The Bobcats were led today by a six-point effort from rookie forward Becky Castle (Stonington, Conn.), who recorded two goals and two assists. Castle has had nine points in Bates' last two games. Sophomore midfielder Krissie Whiting (Contoocook, N.H.) posted her second multi-goal game of the season as well. Junior forward Amanda Waterhouse (Cumberland, Maine) tallied four points on a goal and two assists.

Bates goalkeepers Kim Martell (Needham, Mass.) and Lynne Antinarelli (Bedford, Mass.) each made one save in a half of play, while UNE's Melissa Dolbec (Manchester, N.H.) and Jayne Tarkleson (Colebrook, N.H.) combined for 11 stops for the Nor'Easters.
