NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bates College women's soccer team (10-4, 5-4 NESCAC) secured the fifth seed in the upcoming NESCAC tournament today, dispatching host Connecticut College (6-7, 2-7 NESCAC) by a 1-0 score.

The lone goal of the game came shortly after the start of the second half, when sophomore midfielder Krissie Whiting (Contoocook, N.H.) notched her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 51st minute, on an assist from classmate Julie Asen (Fairfield, Conn.).
