Bates 14, Springfield 9
The Bates College women's lacrosse team saw their first outdoors
action of the season on the turf of Springfield College. After falling
behind 2-1 in the first seven minutes of the game, the Bobcats (1-0)
bounced back to score the next six goals to take a commanding 7-2 lead
against the host Pride (1-2). Junior attack Amanda Schall (Chevy Chase,
Md.) and first-year attack Erin Flynn (Newton, N.J.) each contributed two
goals in the decisive run. The Pride closed the gap to three goals early
in the second half, but Bates scored six of the next seven goals to put
the game out of reach at 13-5, with first-year attack Jess Roll
(Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore Kate Holbrook (Columbia, Md.) each
contributing two goals. Holbrook also added an assist. The Bobcat goalies,
junior 'Cil Bloomfield (Exeter, N.H.) and sophomore Kim Holzer (Adams,
