Bates 14, Springfield 9

The Bates College women's lacrosse team saw their first outdoors action of the season on the turf of Springfield College. After falling behind 2-1 in the first seven minutes of the game, the Bobcats (1-0) bounced back to score the next six goals to take a commanding 7-2 lead against the host Pride (1-2). Junior attack Amanda Schall (Chevy Chase, Md.) and first-year attack Erin Flynn (Newton, N.J.) each contributed two goals in the decisive run. The Pride closed the gap to three goals early in the second half, but Bates scored six of the next seven goals to put the game out of reach at 13-5, with first-year attack Jess Roll (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore Kate Holbrook (Columbia, Md.) each contributing two goals. Holbrook also added an assist. The Bobcat goalies, junior 'Cil Bloomfield (Exeter, N.H.) and sophomore Kim Holzer (Adams, Mass.) combined to make 10 saves.
