BATES WOMEN'S LAX WINS 1999 HOME FINALE, 16-3

LEWISTON, Maine -- Sophomore midfielder Erin Flynn (Newton, N.J.) posted a season-high six goals, helping the Bates College women's lacrosse team (6-7) cruise to victory in the final home game of the regular season, 16-3, over the visiting Wheaton College Lyons (6-7).

Wheaton got on the board first when sophomore Sierra Dennis (Dublin, N.H.) scored less than three minutes into the contest. Bates senior Abby Fierman (Newton Centre, Mass.) evened the score two minutes later and Flynn gave the Bobcats the lead for good with her first goal at the 24:34 mark. The Bates defense, led by senior co-captains Molly McMahon (Cumberland, Maine), a preseason All-American, and Wendy Zimmerman (Denver, Colo.) did not allow another goal for the next 37 minutes, as senior goalkeeper Cil Bloomfield (Exeter, N.H.) made nine saves for the game.

Bates sophomore Jen Sall (Devon, Pa.) had two goals and three assists, while seniors Fierman, Julie Lundman (Worthington, Ohio) and Susie Arnold (Falmouth, Mass.) all tallied goals in their final games on Lafayette St. Field.
