Bates 24, Gordon 3 #18 BATES WOMEN BLAST GORDON, 24-3 LEWISTON, Maine The Bates College women's lacrosse team, ranked 18th in the nation in the most recent IWLCA poll, had an easy time with the visiting Gordon College Fighting Scots as the Bobcats set a season-high in scoring with a 24-3 victory. Sophomore Liz Lawler (Dublin, N.H.) led the way for Bates (9-2) with a career-high six goals, while first-year midfielder Catherine Crosby (Lincoln, Mass.) added five scores. Rookie midfielder Carrie Smith (Chevy Chase, Md.) also posted a hat trick with four goals. First-year attack Becky Castle (Stonington, Conn.) led all players with three assists Gordon (1-3) got two goals from sophomore attack Bess Watson (Woodstock, Vt.) and one from junior attack Christi Mulder (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). Scot goalkeeper Jessi Seep (Arnold, Md.) made 19 saves in the losing effort.
