Bates 20, Bridgewater State 9 BATES WOMEN'S LAX TAKES NORTHERN OPENER, 20-9 BRIDGEWATER, Mass. Six different players scored multiple goals today as the Bates College women's lacrosse team topped Bridgewater State College, 20-9, in the Bobcats' first game in New England this season. Bates (3-0) jumped out to an 11-2 lead at halftime. Bridgewater State (0-4) played closer in the second stanza, 9-7, but were unable to complete a comeback. The Bobcats got a career-high five goals from sophomore Liz Lawler (Dublin, N.H.), while rookie Catherine Crosby (Lincoln, Mass.) added four goals. Seniors Erin Flynn (Newton, N.J.) Jen Sall (Gladwyne, Pa.) and rookie Carrie Smith (Chevy Chase, Md.) also contributed hat tricks. Sophomore Lindsay Macfarlane (Acton, Mass.) picked up her third win of the season, making seven saves. Bridgewater State was led by junior Paula Habel (Hingham, Mass.) led all scorers with three goals and three assists for six points. Three other Bear players added two goals each. Goalie Danielle Bean made eight stops in the losing effort.
