(taken from a Babson College press release) The Bates College women's lacrosse team, ranked 20th in the nation in the most recent IWLCA poll, raced out to an 11-3 lead in the first half and never looked back en route to an 18-6 non-conference victory over the host Babson College Beavers today. First-year players Carrie Smith (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Catherine Crosby (Lincoln, Mass.) both led Bates (8-2) with three goals and one assist each, while senior co-captain Erin Flynn (Newton, N.J.), who recorded her 100th career goal against Connecticut College yesterday, added a second-straight hat trick. Junior Liz Coulson (Devon, Pa.) and sophomore Lindsay MacFarlane (Acton, Mass.) split time in net for the Bobcats, combining for seven saves. Babson (2-4) was paced by sophomore Ashley Andre (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who tallied three goals and rookie Eleni Comuntzis (Potomac, Md.), who had two scored. Sophomore goalkeeper Abby Howe (Sanbornton, N.H.) had 14 saves in the losing effort.
